This PVC coupling connects two pipes in consecutive order. It has male threads changing to female solvent weld socket. 

Schedule 40 PVC pipes and fittings are suitable for cold-water pressure distribution systems including irrigation, pool and spa, and potable water systems. PVC can be connected to other materials such as steel, copper, or cast iron using transition fittings. All PVC schedule 40 fittings service temperatures up to 140°F (60°C) allowing a wide range of process applications.
