So they are a bit of a pain, but you have to twist the top of the flag to where it is horizontal on the emitter. If you look on the side, there will be little grooves that you have to line up with the sides.
Once lined up, you just have to pull the emitter and it will come apart so you can clean it. Then you just simply press it back together.
