You should be good with a 4'' as that is standard but some customers have to go with 6'' if they have thick thatch grass. Typically the 6'' is used in planter areas where it needs a little extra height to get over shrubbery.
Unless your lawn just has thick and tall grass, then the 4'' should be good to go.
