You do not have to have the W-HC-FLOW to make the HC-FLOW-METER work. The W-HC-FLOW just allows you to have wireless connection to the control. You can wire the HC-FLOW-METER directly to your Hydrawise controller and avoid buying the HC-FLOW-METER. It just depends on your ability to run wires to the location of the flow meter. You will have to have one of Hunter's Hydrawise controllers for it work.
