Please watch the video at the bottom of the product page and it will explain it to you. Basically this allows you to add a zone to an existing field wire without having to run a new wire out to the valve. But you still have to have an open station in the controller.
So if you have a 4 zone controller but are only using 3 of the zones. You can add another zone without having to run wiring out to that valve by piggybacking off an existing zone. That added zone will then be able to function off of that existing field wire but while using that zone 4 slot.
